Building Solid Foundations by the Love of God.

We recognize the value of teaching the Word of God because the Word of God teaches us about the Love of God from the beginning story of creation, to the creation of His Chosen people, to their redemption from sin and death by the gift of His Son.  Discipleship and the Word of God teaches others that God is love, and that he so loved his creation that he sent his only son to die for us on the cross.

Love and Know Jesus - A Personal Relationship With Christ.

Jesus's ulitmate expression for His love for us is that He was willing to come to earth and pay the price for our sins on the cross.  He loved us first and calls us to Him for peace with the Father.  We strive to love, know, and be more like Jesus each day.  We believe we can have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Love Others as He loves us

Christ has called us to love His children as He has loved us.  At Amadeo, we highly value outreach and mission.  He has called us to bless and reach as many people as possible for His name.  We want to help others know God loves them and wants a personal relationship with them.

Make New Disciples

In Matthew, Jesus commands us as His followers to go and make new disciples.  We do this through building relationships in our community and engaging people we encounter on a deeper level out of love for those we meet.

Make Mature Disciples

Once someone has become a new disciple, we encourage them in their faith to grow more like Jesus and to do those things which he calls us to.  We do this through teachings, home groups, and encouragement to use their gifitings in the community.

Equip and Send

We take the call to equip and send seriously.  We have hosted dozens of missionaries who come to be trained and serve the community.  We also have equipped and send dozens more to go preach the good news of Christ, to other cities, states, and countries.

Unity in Diversity

We believe that God uses our differences to challenge us spiritually and for the blessing of the Body.  We value a diversity of spiritual giftings, economic stations, ethnicities, and ages.

Seek First the Kingdom of God Now.

We are encouraged to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and we are commanded to pray for God's kingdom to be on earth as it is in heaven.  So, we seek for the Kingdom of Heaven to be on earth - all tribes and tongues worshipping together, the poor hearing the good news, the sick finding healing for their hearts, minds and body.

Other Distinctives.

Every Body Gets to Play:   One of the values of the Kingdom is highlighted in Ephesians 4:11.     God has given us pastors and shepherds along with the apostles, evangelists and prophets to equip all the people in the church (the saints) to become ministers.  Everybody has something to offer to the church, to serve and build up the body.  Everybody gets to play because everybody can S-E-R-V-E....  Amen.

Faith is spelled, "R-I-S-K."  We take risks praying for the sick, preaching the gospel, engaging our community, and going to the whole world to preach the gospel.

Being "Naturally-Supernatural."  Our goal is to not walk by the power of our own flesh and strength but by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us and strengthen us.  We walk by faith and not by sight.  We try to avoid human hype - we are realistic about the trials in life, and pray for deliverance and for the Kingdom to come.

In the Radical Middle.   We are in the main-stream of historic Christian orthodox community.  We believe in the importance of faithful preaching of the gospel in the classic Christian evangelical tradition.  We also believe the Holy Spirit is still working in the same way he was when he was given to the believers in the beginning of the formation of the church.  We are radically missional, faifthfully pursuing Christ's commands to go make disicples of all nations.

Marriages vs Church Based Covenant Ceremonies

It is the policy of AMADEO church to only perform Church Based Covenant Ceremonies.   Marriage certificates and legal standards for marriages, are regulated by federal and state guidelines;  and therefore shall be performed, before witnesses at the courthouse or appropriate state institution.  (Pastors at AMADEO will not participate in this government based legal certificate.)

AMADEO will ONLY do Church Based Covenant Ceremonies based on all four requirements being met:

1.  Church membership (or) Biological family relationship.
2.  In the event that both are Christians, and are willing to take covenant classes for six sessions
3.  And, it being between one man and one woman (at birth)
4.  The married couple will agree to remain in Christian community at AMADEO for a year after getting married for (if church members) or in their local church (if biological family relationship.)

The phrase in the Covenant Ceremony will be, “Based on these covenant commitments we pronounce you husband and wife, before God and the witnesses here.”

Any mis-phrasing on individual documents are not the responsibility of the church, including event announcements, and will not change the meaning of the words, “Covenant Commitments.”  AMADEO suggests using the words, “X and Y will be joined together in a Covenant Commitment before God on such and such a date” on all documents.

In addition, the Church Facilities will only be used for marriages that also meet the above requirements.

Marriage, Gender and Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female.  These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27)  Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning:  the uniting of one man and one woman, as biologically designed by birth, in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.  (Gen 2:18-25)  We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other.  (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4)  We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God.  (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10) However, failures or lapses in judgment do not disqualify you from membership.  Each person should be committed to spiritual growth, repentance, and the sanctification process.  Repentance and restoration is always the goal in the case of moral failure.

Same sex attraction is not a disqualification for membership; however there is an expectation to be always honoring God’s plan for sexuality between covenanted males and females.

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of AMADEO Church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the AMADEO Church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by AMADEO Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.  (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess 5:22).  Exceptions for certain roles will be made as discussed by elders and key staff.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.  (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10, Cor 6:9-11)  There are circumstances where we will work with staff or Church members for full restoration (of membership and position) if they are willing to work towards wholeness and repentance.

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.  (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31)  Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual, regardless of their moral stances, are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of AMADEO Church.  Kindly disagreeing with somebody is not hateful, nor is it harassing.  Refusing to be in community or participate with events that violate our conscience is not hateful or harassing.  The most loving thing one can do is to share with them the heart of God regarding sexuality and God's plan for marriage, sexual purity.

On another different issue: Divisiveness

Divisiveness:  This is the one issue of all that we have on occasion had to ask people to find another church.  It does neither the church nor the parishioners any good to have somebody attending a church where they do not agree with the elders, deacons, or pastors.

As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him.  Titus 3:10
